Creating Articles

If you have an account, you can contribute to Streamline Feed by creating and publishing your own articles. Here's how:

Accessing the Create Article Form

To start creating a new article, you must be logged in. Navigate to the main News page. You will find a "Create Article" button near the top right of the page. Clicking this button will take you to the article creation form at /news/create.

Filling Out the Form

The create article form includes the following fields:

  • Title: The main headline for your article. It must be at least 5 characters long.
  • Excerpt: A brief summary of the article (10-200 characters). This summary will be shown on the news listing page and other previews.
  • Content: The main body of your article. Use the rich text editor provided to format your text, add headings, lists, links, and potentially images. The content must be at least 20 characters long.
  • Category: Select the most relevant category for your article from the dropdown list.
  • Featured Image: Optionally, upload an image that will be prominently displayed with your article on the listing page and at the top of the article page itself.
  • Publish immediately: Check this box if you want the article to be live as soon as you submit the form. If left unchecked, the article will be saved as a draft, and you can publish it later (see Managing Your Articles).
  • Feature this article: Check this box if you think the article deserves special prominence (administrators may review this). Featured articles might be highlighted on the homepage or other sections.

Submitting the Article

Once you have filled out all the required fields:

  • Click the "Publish Article" button at the bottom right. (The button text might change depending on the "Publish immediately" checkbox).
  • If there are any validation errors (e.g., title too short), messages will appear indicating what needs to be corrected.
  • Upon successful submission, you will see a confirmation message, and you will be redirected back to the main News page.
  • If you chose to publish immediately, your article should now appear in the news feed (potentially after a short delay). If saved as a draft, it will not be publicly visible yet.

You can manage your created articles (both published and drafts) from your profile page.
