Moderating Events

User-submitted events require review by administrators or moderators to ensure they are appropriate, accurate, and align with the platform's guidelines before being publicly listed.

Accessing the Event Moderation Queue

Pending events can be found in the Admin Panel under "Event Moderation" in the sidebar, or by visiting /admin/moderation/events.

This page lists all events currently awaiting approval, typically showing the event title, submitter, and submission date.

Reviewing an Event Submission

Each event in the queue is displayed on a card with its details:

  • Event Title & Description: The name and detailed information about the event.
  • Date & Time: Start and end times for the event.
  • Location: Venue name, address, and city.
  • Organizer & Contact Info: Details about who is organizing the event.
  • Website & Image: Links to an event website or promotional image, if provided.
  • Pricing: Information on whether the event is free and any price details.
  • Submitter Information: Who submitted the event.
  • Current Status: Should be "pending_approval".

Moderation Actions

For each pending event, you have two primary actions:

  • Approve:

If the event meets all guidelines and is suitable for the platform, click the "Approve" button. This will change the event's status to "approved" (or "active") and make it visible on the public events listing.

  • Reject:

If the event is unsuitable, click the "Reject" button. A dialog will appear prompting you to provide a reason for rejection. This reason may be logged for internal records or (if implemented) communicated to the event submitter. After confirming, the event's status will be changed to "rejected".

Important Considerations

  • Accuracy: Verify event details like date, time, and location if possible.
  • Content Guidelines: Ensure the event description and any linked content adhere to your platform's terms of service and community standards.
  • Spam Prevention: Be vigilant for spam or fraudulent event submissions.
  • Communication: If your platform supports it, consider how users are notified about the approval or rejection of their event submissions.

Proper event moderation ensures a high-quality and trustworthy events calendar for your users.
