Julius Migos Ogamba (born 1967) is a seasoned Kenyan lawyer and the Cabinet Secretary for Education, having assumed office on 8 August 2024. He succeeded Ezekiel Machogu, his former political principal, following a major cabinet reshuffle by President William Ruto. A legal practitioner with over 30 years of experience, Ogamba is a Senior Partner at Migos-Ogamba & Waudo Advocates. Before his appointment to the cabinet, he served as the Chairman of the Board of the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) from March 2023 to August 2024, where he provided strategic oversight during a critical period of energy sector reforms. His political career is deeply rooted in Kisii County politics. In the 2022 General Election, he was the running mate to Ezekiel Machogu for the Kisii Gubernatorial seat on a UDA ticket, though they were defeated by Simba Arati. Prior to that, he contested the Kitutu Chache North parliamentary seat in 2017 on an ODM ticket. As Education CS, his tenure has been defined by the rigorous implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), navigating the turbulent transition of the Higher Education Funding Model, and managing industrial relations with university lecturers. In January 2026, he oversaw the release of the 2025 KCSE results, emphasizing the integrity of the examination process amidst new security protocols.
