Davis Chirchir was born in 1960 in Cheptigit, Kericho.Davis Chirchir ateended Kericho Highscholl where he did his O-levels between 1974 to 1978 and later completed his Form 6 between 1979 to 1980. He went on to the University of Nairobi where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science and Physics in 1984. He started of in the now de-funct Kenya Post and Telecommunications Corporation as a Tele-traffic Engineer and rose the ranks to General Manager for technical services in telecommunications department till the late 90s. Davis played a major role as a Senior Manager at Telkom till his entry into politics. Similarly Davis rose the ranks in politics first starting of as a Secretary General of United Republican Party in 2011 till his appointment as Cabinet Secretary of Energy. His tenure was however terminated due to allegations in involvement of illegal purchase of the 2012 elections and suspicions of exploiting the ministry's tenders. Despite allegations and questioning by the Anti-Corruptions Commision Chirchir was never charged. Chirchir went on to work at Jubilee where he brought considerable change before moving on to work as the Chief of Staff at the office of the Deputy President until his appointment as th e Cabinet Secretary of Energy.Davis was dismissed from his role when the President disolved the Cabinet due to the Gen Z riots against the 2024 finance bill but was later re-appointed as the Cabinet Secretary of Roads and Transport, a position which he is still currently holding. Davis Chirchir is happily married to Dr.Betty Chirchir with whom they have four children.Davis however keeps a low profile concerning his private life. He has a current net worth of Kshs 509.8 million as of his last vetting.Davis is a technology expert and politician who has served in various capacities and whose political star continues to rise.
