Mohamed Salah Hamed Mahrous Ghaly (born 15 June 1992), known as the "Egyptian King," is an Egyptian professional footballer who plays as a right winger for Premier League club Liverpool and captains the Egypt national team. He is considered one of the greatest African players of all time. Salah holds the record for most goals scored in a 38-game Premier League season (32) and is Liverpool's all-time top Premier League goalscorer. Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup. By 2026, he had surpassed 250 goals for Liverpool. He was the subject of a massive £200 million transfer bid from Saudi Arabia in 2023 and 2025, which Liverpool rejected. Salah is a global icon, named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in 2019. Despite his club success, he has suffered heartbreak with Egypt, losing two AFCON finals (2017, 2021) and failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. He remains the talisman for Egypt's 2026 World Cup campaign.
