Elizabeth Wanjiru Wathuti (born 1 August 1995 in Kiandu village, Tetu Constituency, Nyeri County) is a Kenyan environment and climate activist and the founder of the Green Generation Initiative. Her organisation nurtures young people to love nature and be environmentally conscious and has planted more than 30,000 tree seedlings in Kenya. She grew up in Nyeri County, planted her first tree at age seven and started an environmental club in high school; at Kenyatta University she led the environmental club, organising tree planting, clean‑ups and climate‑change education. In 2016 she founded the Green Generation Initiative to encourage environmental education and build climate resilience. Wathuti earned a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Community Development from Kenyatta University. She has been recognised with the Africa Green Person of the Year award and was named among the 100 Most Influential Young Africans. She is also a recipient of the Wangari Maathai scholarship and is a member of the Green Belt Movement.
