Tabitha Mukami Karanja (b. 29 August 1964) is the current Senator for Nakuru County, elected in August 2022. In the Senate she sits under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and serves on multiple oversight committees spanning information and communications, national security, energy and commercial affairs, and governance. Her victory was decisive: she polled 442,864 votes to defeat her Jubilee Party opponent, Lawrence Karanja, who received 163,625. Before her political career, she built a formidable reputation as an entrepreneur and industrialist. In 1997 she and her husband founded Keroche Breweries, initially producing fortified wine, later expanding into gin, vodka, and beer. Keroche is the first large-scale brewery in Kenya owned by a non-multinational, and its brands include Summit Lager, KB Lager, Valley Wines, and a suite of spirits under the Crescent and Viena Ice labels. Under her leadership the company expanded its brewing capacity from tens of thousands of bottles per day to hundreds of thousands, deploying a KSh 5 billion (approx. US$55 million) upgrade in 2015 to take capacity to 600,000 bottles/day. Keroche has also been cited as the second largest alcoholic beverages producer in Kenya, generating multibillion-shilling revenues and employing hundreds of full-time staff.
