Miguna Miguna is a Kenyan-Canadian lawyer, author, and one of the most abrasive, brilliant, and deeply polarizing political commentators in East Africa. The self-styled "General" of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Miguna famously served as a senior adviser to Prime Minister Raila Odinga before suffering a spectacular, bitter fallout. In 2018, after presiding over Odinga's mock swearing-in as the "People's President," Miguna was forcefully sedated and deported to Canada by the Uhuru Kenyatta administration in a massive violation of court orders. By 2026, Miguna has successfully returned to Kenya under the Ruto administration. However, true to his fiercely independent nature, he refuses to align with the political establishment. Utilizing his massive reach on X (formerly Twitter), he launches relentless, highly articulate, and frequently defamatory rhetorical artillery against both the government and the opposition. He operates as an untouchable, fiercely intellectual maverick who utilizes his mastery of constitutional law to terrify the Kenyan political elite.

In 2012, Miguna published the book 'Peeling Back the Mask,' which leveled allegations of corruption and misconduct against then-Prime Minister Raila Odinga and other government officials, leading to his dismissal as a senior adviser and significant public and political fallout.
In February 2018, Miguna was arrested and deported to Canada after he participated in the 'swearing-in' of opposition leader Raila Odinga as the 'People's President,' an event the government declared illegal and treasonous.
Admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in the Province of Ontario Canada and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
Following his deportation in 2018, Miguna engaged in a protracted multi-year legal battle with the Kenyan government over the restoration of his citizenship and Kenyan passport, during which the government defied multiple court orders allowing his return until he was eventually allowed back into the country in 2022.
Throughout his career, Miguna has been frequently criticized for his use of inflammatory, derogatory, and aggressive language on social media platforms, resulting in numerous public disputes with politicians, journalists, and private citizens, as well as several legal threats and complaints regarding his conduct.
