Ngina Kenyatta (born 24 June 1933), popularly known as “Mama Ngina,” is Kenya’s inaugural First Lady and the widow of founding president Jomo Kenyatta. Born Ngina Muhoho in Ngenda, Kiambu, to Chief Muhoho wa Gathecha and Anne Nyokabi, she married Jomo Kenyatta in 1951 and served as First Lady from independence in 1964 until 1978.
