Faith Wairimu Gitau (born 24 October 1978) is a Kenyan politician serving her second term as the Woman Representative for Nyandarua County in the National Assembly, first elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2022. Initially elected on a Jubilee Party ticket and later aligning with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), she has positioned herself as one of Nyandarua’s most visible female leaders, known locally by the moniker “Mamii mwega wa Nyandarua”. In Parliament she has sat on key committees including the Departmental Committee on Energy, the Special Funds Committee and the Parliamentary Broadcasting and Library Committee, where she has engaged on issues of infrastructure, public funds and communication. Her work has earned her growing national recognition; local reports and civic groups have highlighted her as one of the better-performing women representatives, and she has recently been touted as a potential contender for the Nyandarua governorship in 2027. Gitau’s public life is built on a long career in administration, international service and business, which anchors her grassroots mobilisation and focus on livelihoods—especially agriculture—in a county that is one of Kenya’s food baskets. After schooling at Simbara Primary School and Ndaragwa Secondary School, she obtained a BA in Social Sciences from The Washington University (reported in parliamentary records) and a Higher Diploma in Business Administration from the Kenya Institute of Management, alongside earlier secretarial training. Professionally, she worked for close to a decade with the UNHCR as an administrative assistant and later with UNESCO as an administrative officer, before venturing into the construction and supplies business as a director from 2010, experience that informs her current emphasis on empowerment projects, bursaries and agricultural value-chain support for farmers in Nyandarua.
