Beatrice Muganda Inyangala is a Kenyan educationist and public administrator serving as Principal Secretary in the State Department for Higher Education and Research. Born in Shiriku village, Malava, Kakamega County, she studied at Moi University, earning a Bachelor of Education in Economics and Geography and a Master’s degree in Planning and Economics of Education. She later obtained a PhD from the University of Athens at age 33 while raising twin children. Inyangala has lectured at Moi University, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, and Mombasa Technical Training Institute, and also worked as a planning officer at the Commission for University Education. Beyond academia, she served as Deputy Executive Director and Director of Higher Education at the Partnership for African Social & Governance Research, where she oversaw the Pedagogical Leadership in Africa (PedaL) programme and contributed to Kenya’s Vision 2030 Education and Training Strategy. In 2022, she entered politics as Cleophas Malala’s running mate in the Kakamega gubernatorial race before joining President William Ruto’s administration as Principal Secretary. At the Kenya Institute of Special Education’s Assessment and Research Centre, she has been a strong advocate of inclusive education, pressing for the integration of learners with special needs into mainstream classrooms.
