Rigathi Gachagua claims state agents are blackmailing MP Gathoni Wamuchomba to prevent her from joining his opposition party, highlighting the intensifying battle for Kiambu politics.

The battle for the political soul of Kiambu County has taken a dramatic twist. Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has publicly alleged that "state operatives" are using intimidation tactics to coerce Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba into joining his newly formed Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
Speaking at a rally in Limuru, Gachagua claimed that Wamuchomba, a fierce critic of the current administration, is being blackmailed with revived tax cases and development funding freezes. "They are telling her she must join their camp or perish," Gachagua told the crowd. "But I am here to tell them: Wamuchomba is an iron lady. She will not be bought."
The revelation is ironic given Gachagua and Wamuchomba's rocky history. However, their shared enemy—the current UDA leadership—has created an unlikely alliance. Wamuchomba has yet to officially declare her move to DCP, but her frequent appearances with Gachagua suggest a deal is imminent.
Wamuchomba herself has remained coy, stating only that she "serves the people of Githunguri, not party barons." However, Gachagua's "whistleblowing" serves a dual purpose: it shields her from potential state harassment while publicly claiming her as his political protegee. The Mountain is shifting, and the realignments are just beginning.
