Google unveils "Gemini Enterprise" AI agents in partnership with Walmart, enabling users to execute complex shopping tasks and checkout directly within the chat interface.

Google has fired the latest shot in the AI wars, unveiling a new suite of "Gemini Enterprise" tools designed to kill the traditional search bar. At the National Retail Federation (NRF) conference in New York, the tech giant announced partnerships with Walmart and Papa John’s to deploy "agentic AI"—chatbots that don't just answer questions, but execute complex shopping tasks.
Unlike previous iterations, the new Gemini agents can negotiate. If a user asks for "camping gear for a rainy weekend," the AI cross-references weather data with inventory, selects waterproof tents, applies loyalty discounts, and handles checkout—all within the chat interface.
"We are moving from information to action," said Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian. The system uses multimodal inputs, allowing shoppers to upload a photo of a broken appliance part and have the AI find and order the exact replacement in seconds.
The launch is a direct response to OpenAI’s recent e-commerce push. With "agentic commerce" predicted to drive 20% of retail sales by 2027, Google is leveraging its massive cloud infrastructure to ensure that when the world shops with AI, it shops with Gemini.
