Machakos, Kenya – President William Ruto officially launched a new, extensive infrastructure development program on Monday, targeting the upgrade of rural roads across Eastern Kenya. This significant project, funded by the national government, will see the tarmacking of approximately 500 kilometers of currently unpaved (dirt) roads. The primary aim of this initiative is to substantially improve market access for local farmers and stimulate broader economic growth within the region.

During the launch event, President Ruto emphasized that the development of better road networks will lead to reduced transportation costs for agricultural produce and other goods, thereby boosting the economic activity and profitability of local enterprises.
