Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi apologises for the teargas horror at Othaya ACK Church but claims former DP Rigathi Gachagua "staged" the violence to win political sympathy.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has issued a startling apology to the clergy and congregants of Othaya ACK Church following a chaotic Sunday service that degenerated into teargas and running battles, placing the blame squarely on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The incident, which saw police officers lob canister after canister into the house of worship, has drawn nationwide condemnation. However, Sudi’s narrative flips the script, alleging that the violence was not state-sponsored oppression but a "self-made crisis" engineered by Gachagua to garner political sympathy in the Mount Kenya region.
Speaking from Eldoret, Sudi did not mince his words. "I want to ask for forgiveness from the Christians of Othaya ACK," he said, adopting a sombre tone. "It is an abomination for teargas to smoke out believers. But we must be honest—who carried the stones? Who hired the goons? It was the former DP himself." Sudi claims to have intelligence that Gachagua’s entourage included hired agitators meant to provoke the police.
The accusation has deepened the rift within the ruling coalition’s former strongholds. While Sudi portrays the government as a reluctant enforcer of order, Gachagua’s allies insist the police used excessive force on unarmed worshippers. "You cannot gas God’s people and blame the victim," a Gachagua ally retorted.
As the church hierarchy demands an apology from the Inspector General of Police, Sudi’s intervention serves a dual purpose: absolving the President’s administration while casting Gachagua as a desperate arsonist willing to burn down the church to light his political cigarette.
