Safaricom, Kenya's telecommunications titan, orchestrated an unparalleled celebration for the 18th anniversary of its groundbreaking mobile money service, M-PESA, a platform that has irrevocably transformed the nation's financial landscape. On March 21, 2025, Nairobi's historic Uhuru Park became the epicenter of an ambitious 18-hour marathon concert, a fitting tribute that drew tens of thousands of Kenyans for an immersive day-and-night experience of continuous, high-energy entertainment.

Kicking off at 2 PM, the monumental event was a vibrant showcase of Kenya's diverse and talented DJ culture, featuring an impressive roster of over 18 of the country's most sought-after disc jockeys. Luminaries of the decks such as DJ Grauchi, CNG, DJ Dream, Kriss Darlin, DJ Kalonje, and DJ Redbone masterfully curated an electrifying soundscape, keeping the massive audience engaged and dancing through seamless transitions across a multitude of genres for the entire 18-hour duration.

In his address during the festivities, Safaricom CEO Dr. Peter Ndegwa emphasized the deeper significance of the occasion beyond a mere corporate anniversary. "This concert is our way of celebrating the profound and multifaceted impact M-Pesa has had on the lives of ordinary Kenyans, revolutionizing how they transact, save, and access financial services. Unforgettable performances were delivered by groups and soloists including Karura Voices, Muringe, Kodong Klan, Njerae, the ever-popular Mejja, hip-hop legend Jua Cali, the dynamic Femi One, and lyrical maestro Khaligraph Jones. Their sets traversed Kenya's diverse musical landscape, from traditional rhythms and hip-hop beats to energetic reggae, infectious gengetone, and smooth afro-pop. The visual spectacle was amplified by high-energy performances from acclaimed local dance crews, Alfa House and The Cluster, who added another layer of dynamism to the celebration. An ensemble of Kenya's most charismatic and renowned MCs, including MC Kibunja, Gudah Man, Kwambox, Tallia Oyando, Lion and Mbusi Deh, Azeezah, Lotan, MC Hype Ballo, and the legendary Willy Tuva, expertly steered the marathon event, ensuring non-stop engagement and a jubilant atmosphere throughout the 18-hour musical journey.
