Kenya Power has reported a boost in electricity generation capacity and improvements in grid infrastructure, resulting in a more reliable and stable power supply with no recent major outages. The company also called on consumers to use power efficiently.
Nairobi, Kenya – Kenya Power has announced that the country’s national electricity generation capacity has reached record levels, leading to a significant improvement in the stability and reliability of power supply across its network. Speaking at a press briefing, CEO Rebecca Miano attributed this positive development to new strategic investments in renewable energy sources, particularly geothermal and wind power, which have substantially raised overall generation capacity. She also noted that ongoing upgrades to the transmission and distribution infrastructure have played a key role in reducing the frequency and duration of power outages.
The utility company reported that there have been no major load-shedding incidents in recent weeks, a testament to the enhanced grid stability. While celebrating these gains, CEO Miano urged customers to continue practicing energy conservation measures, especially amidst rising national demand. She also reaffirmed Kenya Power's commitment to continued network expansion and modernization projects aimed at meeting future energy needs as more Kenyan households and businesses get connected to the national grid.
