Businesses and residents in parts of Nairobi, Kajiado, Nandi, Kakamega, Nyeri, Embu, Kilifi, and Kwale counties face planned electricity interruptions on Tuesday, November 25, for network maintenance.

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced scheduled power outages for Tuesday, November 25, 2025, impacting customers in eight counties across the country. In a notice issued on Monday, November 24, the utility company stated that the interruptions are necessary to facilitate routine network maintenance aimed at improving service reliability. The blackouts are scheduled for different durations, with some lasting up to nine hours.
The maintenance will affect residential areas, businesses, and key institutions, prompting calls for residents to make necessary arrangements to minimize disruptions. The move is part of KPLC's ongoing strategy to upgrade and maintain its electricity distribution network to prevent unplanned blackouts and enhance grid stability.
In the capital, Nairobi, two major areas will be affected at different times.
At the Coast, Kilifi and Kwale counties are slated for day-long outages from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EAT.
In Embu County, two separate maintenance schedules have been announced.
Parts of Kajiado, Nandi, and Kakamega counties will also experience disruptions.
In Nyeri County, the areas around the Kiawara DC's Offices will be without power from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EAT. This includes Rurichu Village and Lamuria Village.
Kenya Power has advised all customers in the affected zones to treat electricity installations as live for the duration of the outages for safety purposes. The company maintains that these scheduled interruptions are crucial for ensuring the long-term stability and reliability of the national power grid.
