Suna East MP Junet Mohamed trashes claims by Gachagua allies that he was a "trojan horse" who helped Ruto win the 2022 election, terming the allegations as "political garbage."

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has come out guns blazing to dismiss explosive allegations by allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who claimed the ODM whip secretly worked with William Ruto to sabotage Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential victory.
The allegations, peddled by former UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala, painted a picture of high-level betrayal, suggesting Junet held nocturnal meetings with Ruto to leak sensitive information about ODM’s agents. In a fiery rejoinder, Junet termed the claims as "garbage" and the "kicks of a dying horse."
"These people are drowning in their own political irrelevance," Junet told reporters outside Parliament buildings. "To try and rewrite history to suit their desperate narrative is a new low. I was on the front line for Baba while they were busy plotting their own downfall. If they have evidence of these so-called night meetings, let them table it now."
The vocal legislator argued that the accusations were a calculated attempt to sow discord within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) as the party reorganizes for 2027. He characterized the Gachagua camp as "bitter losers" who are trying to drag everyone into their political grave following the former DP's impeachment.
The 2022 election remains an open wound for the opposition, and allegations of internal sabotage strike a raw nerve. Junet, who was the master of ceremony for the Azimio campaigns, bore the brunt of the blame from frustrated supporters immediately after the loss.
By dragging up these old ghosts, Gachagua’s allies hope to destabilize the current government-opposition truce. But Junet remains defiant: "My record speaks for itself. I have never betrayed Raila Odinga, and I never will. These are just cheap lies from cheap politicians."
