Eng. Vincent Musyoka Musau, popularly known as “Kawaya”, is a Kenyan engineer, legislator and political organiser serving his third term as Member of Parliament for Mwala Constituency in Machakos County. First elected in 2013 as one of the youngest MPs in the 11th Parliament, he has since become a central figure in national energy policy and Ukambani politics. In the 13th Parliament he has been widely recognised as Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Energy, leading high-profile inquiries on electricity costs, fuel pricing and petroleum import frameworks. Trained as an electrical engineer, Kawaya combines technical grounding with a reputation for aggressive, issues-driven politics. He has positioned himself as a key UDA ally and organiser in Machakos and the wider Ukambani region, frequently fronting the ruling coalition’s message on development, energy reforms and national politics. As committee leaderships were reshuffled in late 2025, Parliament records also show him serving as Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining, underscoring his elevated influence in the House.
Three-term MP for Mwala (2013–present): elected to Parliament in 2013 and re-elected in 2017 and 2022, making him one of the longest-serving contemporary MPs from Machakos County.
Chairperson, Departmental Committee on Energy (2022–2024+): led the National Assembly’s Energy Committee through major inquiries on electricity cost reduction, rising fuel prices and petroleum import reforms, and steered amendments to the Energy law framework.
Combative rhetoric in national politics: Kawaya has drawn criticism for sharp attacks on senior figures, including branding Raila Odinga a “people’s conman” in 2019 and later publicly dressing down high-ranking leaders such as Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other Mt Kenya politicians in televised events.
Role in Mavoko land and demolitions politics: he has been at the centre of heated exchanges over the controversial Mavoko/East African Portland land saga, leading UDA-aligned MPs who accused Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Governor Wavinya Ndeti of benefiting from land cartels—claims that Wiper MPs strongly rejected as diversionary and inflammatory

National honour – Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS): in December 2024, he was conferred the CBS by President William Ruto for what State House and subsequent profiles described as outstanding public service and legislative contribution.
