Robert Lewandowski (born 21 August 1988) is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a striker for La Liga club Barcelona and captains the Poland national team. He is one of the most prolific goalscorers in the history of the sport. He gained global fame at Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, where he won the treble in 2020 and broke Gerd Müller's 49-year-old record by scoring 41 goals in a single Bundesliga season (2020/21). Lewandowski moved to Barcelona in 2022 and immediately won the Pichichi Trophy (top scorer) and La Liga title in his debut season. By 2026, despite being in his late 30s, he remained a key figure for Barca, mentoring young stars like Lamine Yamal and Gavi. He is Poland's all-time top scorer and appearance maker. He is widely considered the rightful winner of the 2020 Ballon d'Or, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic—a decision that remains controversial to this day. He won the Best FIFA Men's Player award twice (2020, 2021).
