Patrick Keturet Ole Ntutu is a prominent Kenyan politician currently serving as the Governor of Narok County. Born on October 10, 1970, in Narok County, he is a member of the influential Ntutu family, the sons of the late Paramount Chief Lerionka Ole Ntutu. His career is marked by a transition from civil service to national politics and eventually to county leadership, characterized by a focus on infrastructure development, revenue management, and administrative reform. Ntutu’s early life was rooted in the Maasai community of Narok. He attended Lemek Primary School before proceeding to Narok High School, where he completed his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 1991. Although he initially faced challenges securing local university admission, his academic trajectory changed significantly in 1994 when he received a scholarship from the Michael Jordan Foundation, established by Deloris Jordan, the mother of basketball legend Michael Jordan. This opportunity allowed him to relocate to the United States, where he enrolled at Roosevelt University in Chicago. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1996 and subsequently earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance in 2000. Upon returning to Kenya in 2002, Ntutu entered the public service. He served in the provincial administration, holding positions as a District Officer and an Acting District Commissioner in the Malindi and Magarini divisions. This experience provided him with foundational knowledge of government operations and administration, which later proved integral to his political career. Ntutu transitioned into elective politics in 2013 when he was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Narok West constituency. He served two consecutive terms in the National Assembly, during which he was a member of key parliamentary committees, including the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security and the Budget and Appropriations Committee. Following his tenure in parliament, he served as a Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the national government, with postings in the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection. In the 2022 Kenyan general election, Ntutu successfully contested the gubernatorial seat for Narok County on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket. He defeated his closest rival to become the county's governor, with Tamalinye K. Koech serving as his deputy. Since assuming office, his administration has prioritized the optimization of local revenue collection, the improvement of healthcare infrastructure—including the expansion of maternity units and dispensaries—and the scaling of water projects to serve rural communities. His governance has been noted for its emphasis on fiscal discipline and development-oriented policies. He has received recognition in various public opinion polls for his performance as a first-term governor, particularly in relation to his efforts to improve service delivery and infrastructure in the Maasai Mara region and surrounding wards. Patrick Ole Ntutu is married to Nayianoi Ntutu. His public and political life is often viewed through the lens of his family’s long-standing influence in Narok’s leadership and their role in the political history of the region. As governor, his stated vision focuses on transforming Narok County through sustainable socioeconomic development and the effective utilization of the county’s vast natural and tourism resources.
