Michael Rubens Bloomberg (born 14 February 1942) is an American businessman, politician, and philanthropist. He co-founded Bloomberg L.P. in 1981, a financial information and media company known for the Bloomberg Terminal, which became essential for Wall Street traders. He retains 88% ownership of the company. Bloomberg served as the Mayor of New York City for three terms (2002–2013), initially as a Republican and then as an Independent. He is a major philanthropist focusing on climate change, gun control, and public health. He briefly ran for US President in 2020.
