Levon Aronian (born 6 October 1982) is an Armenian-American chess grandmaster. A national hero in Armenia, he led the country to three Olympic Gold Medals. In 2021, following political disputes and the death of his wife Arianne Caoili, he transferred to the US Chess Federation. Aronian is a creative genius, known for his tactical brilliance and emotional play. He is a two-time World Cup winner (2005, 2017) and a World Rapid & Blitz Champion. He is one of the few players to cross the 2830 Elo mark.
