Lawrence Edward Page (born 26 March 1973) is an American business magnate, computer scientist, and internet entrepreneur. He is best known for co-founding Google with Sergey Brin. He pioneered the PageRank algorithm, which became the foundation of Google's search engine. He served as CEO of Google from 1997 to 2001 and again from 2011 to 2015, then as CEO of Alphabet Inc. until 2019. Page is a futurist who has invested heavily in flying cars (Kitty Hawk, Opener) and renewable energy. Since stepping down from day-to-day management, he has remained a controlling shareholder and board member of Alphabet, keeping a low public profile.
