Julius Kibet Bitok is a Kenyan diplomat, educationist, and philanthropist whose journey from humble beginnings to high public office embodies resilience and service. Born in Nandi County, Bitok began his education at Kaptuktuk Primary School before proceeding to Arnesens Boys’ High School and Chebisaas Secondary School. He earned a diploma from Kenya Science Teachers College and later pursued higher education at the University of Nairobi, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and an MBA in Business Administration. He went on to complete a PhD in Business Management at Oklahoma State University, focusing on finance, trade, and public policy. Bitok’s career spans academia, public service, and diplomacy. He lectured at Kenyan universities, consulted for State House, the Central Bank of Kenya, and other institutions, and established a foundation supporting education for needy students and sponsoring orphaned disabled children. In 2013, he was appointed Kenya’s Ambassador to Pakistan, where he successfully negotiated scholarships for Kenyan youth. He later joined the civil service as Principal Secretary for Immigration and Citizen Services, and in March 2025 was reassigned to lead the State Department for Basic Education.
