Eric Wamumbi Wa Mumbi is the Member of Parliament for Mathira Constituency, elected in 2022. He succeeded Rigathi Gachagua, who vacated the seat to become Deputy President. Wamumbi is a key cog in the "Young Turks" faction of UDA politicians in Mt. Kenya. Before Parliament, he served as the MCA for Konyu Ward. Wamumbi has been at the forefront of the fight against illicit brew and drug abuse in the Central region, a mandate given directly by the Deputy President. He serves on the Water, Blue Economy and Sanitation Committee. He is also part of a political "power couple," being married to Murang'a Woman Rep Betty Maina.
