Edward Mutahi Kahiga is serving his second term as the Governor of Nyeri County. He first assumed office in 2017 as the Deputy Governor and became Governor following the passing of Dr. Wahome Gakuru. He was re-elected in 2022. Before politics, he had a long career as a teacher and was an official with the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT).
