Catherine Nyambura Ndereba (born 21 July 1972) is a celebrated Kenyan marathon runner, nicknamed "Catherine the Great." Regarded as one of the greatest female marathoners of all time, she is a two-time World Athletics Champion (2003, 2007) and secured silver medals in the marathon at both the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympics. Ndereba broke the women's marathon world record in 2001 and achieved unprecedented success by winning the prestigious Boston Marathon four times. Her achievements brought immense pride to Kenya and inspired a generation of female athletes.
