She earned her MBChB (1975) and MMed in Paediatrics at the University of Nairobi, completed a post-doctoral fellowship in paediatric cardiology at the University of Minnesota, and later an MBA at Daystar University. In 2006 she co-founded The Karen Hospital in Nairobi, which opened as a 102-bed multi-specialty facility and has since grown through satellite branches; she served as CEO from 2006 to 2020 and now chairs the hospital’s board.
