Bashir Sheikh Abdullahi is the Member of Parliament for Mandera North, serving his second term after being re-elected in 2022. A lawyer by profession, he is a sober voice in parliament often contributing to debates on constitutional law and security. He is a member of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC). Bashir has been vocal about the security challenges in Mandera caused by Al-Shabaab, frequently lobbying the national government to open the Kenya-Somalia border to formalize trade while enhancing security patrols. He represents the interests of the Garre community.
