Aida Joseph Khenani (born 1981) is a trailblazing Tanzanian politician and a prominent figure within the CHADEMA opposition party. She etched her name in Tanzanian political history during the heavily criticized and allegedly rigged 2020 general elections. Amidst a nationwide systematic wipeout of the opposition by the ruling CCM party, Aida Khenani emerged as the **only** CHADEMA parliamentary candidate to successfully win an elective constituency seat (Nkasi North). Her solitary presence in the 12th Parliament (2020-2025) placed immense pressure on her shoulders, serving as the lone legitimate, non-expelled opposition voice in a completely homogenized house. A courageous and highly articulate leader, she successfully navigated the treacherous political environment, utilizing her parliamentary privilege to expose massive irregularities in agricultural fertilizer distribution in the Rukwa region. In the highly restrictive 2025 elections, she became a focal point for the opposition's fight for democratic survival.
