Biography
Nassir is a Kenyan politician, currently serving as Governor of Mombasa since 2022. He previously served two terms as Member of Parliament for Mvita (2013–2022) and is deputy party leader of ODM (Azimio la Umoja coalition).

1. Media Entrepreneur & MP (2013–2022) Before entering politics, Nassir worked in media, rising from roles in production and broadcasting at Pulse FM to founding and managing Radio Rahma, where he served legally as CEO until his election to Parliament in 2013  . He then served two terms (2013 & 2017) as Member of Parliament for Mvita Constituency on an ODM ticket, including a key leadership role as Chair of the Public Investment Committee
2. Governor of Mombasa (2022–present) Elected on 9 August 2022 under the ODM/Azimio la Umoja coalition, he became Governor of Mombasa County, winning the seat with ~119,083 votes. In office, he launched initiatives such as a scholarship program funded at KSh 15 million to support needy students, and concurrently holds the position of Deputy Party Leader of ODM
Notable Controversies
Faced accusations by critics regarding misuse of resources, which he denies.
1. 🍵 KRA Raid on Radio Rahma FM • In May 2024, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) raided Radio Rahma FM, a radio station owned by Governor Nassir. • He publicly alleged the raid was retaliation for his strong stance on banning the harmful drug muguka in Mombasa County, calling the move harassment and politically motivated
2. 🏢 Contempt of Court for Occupying Disputed Land • In March 2024, the Mombasa High Court issued a summons demanding Governor Nassir show cause why he shouldn’t face civil jail for ignoring a court order. • The order required him to vacate county officers from 0.2641 hectares of contested land along Abdel Nassir Road, as ruled in January 2021 by Justice Yano
