Key events that have shaped public perception.
Isiolo County Assembly moved to impeach him, citing allegations of abuse of office and financial mismanagement. Sixteen out of 18 MCAs allegedly supported the motion. The High Court held the process unlawful and void due to an existing court order, and the Senate subsequently terminated the impeachment proceedings
The Senate’s County Public Accounts Committee flagged him for maintaining an inflated number of advisors and chief officers—36 advisors instead of the legally permitted four. There were also reports of improperly retained retirees, prompting calls for surcharges.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to arrest Governor Guyo and seven others. He is accused of orchestrating the kidnapping and robbery with violence of a former Isiolo County Chief Officer of Health during an event in Machakos County in June 2025. Evidence cited includes CCTV footage placing him at the scene
Governor Guyo disputes the allegations, calling them politically motivated. He asserts he was not present at the scene and demands the DPP produce the CCTV evidence. Additionally, he obtained an anticipatory protection order from Kiambu High Court on August 27, restraining authorities from arresting or harassing him pending full adjudication.
