Abdi Ibrahim Hassan (Guyo) is the Governor of Isiolo County, elected in 2022 after serving multiple terms as a Nairobi County Assembly MCA and Majority Leader. He began his political career as a councillor for Matopeni/Spring Valley ward, later winning the MCA seat in 2013 and 2017 before making history as Kenya’s first MCA to ascend to a governor’s position. Sworn in alongside Deputy Governor Dr. James Lowasa, Guyo has been credited with boosting Isiolo’s revenue collection to over KES 500 million and initiating infrastructure and healthcare improvements, earning him Isiolo’s Male Personality of the Year 2024 award. His tenure has faced political turbulence, including an impeachment motion dismissed by the Senate and a recent DPP order for his arrest over alleged kidnapping and robbery, but he remains a key political figure shaping the county’s development trajectory.

Isiolo County Assembly moved to impeach him, citing allegations of abuse of office and financial mismanagement. Sixteen out of 18 MCAs allegedly supported the motion.
