Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, the self-declared voice of the village, has waded into the ODM internal wars with a proposal that is turning heads: a "Dream Team" alliance between Winnie Odinga and Secretary General Edwin Sifuna to save the party.

In his characteristic unfiltered style, Salasya warned Winnie that the "old guard" surrounding her father are political brokers past their sell-by date. "Work with Sifuna," he advised. "He understands the streets. The others just understand the boardroom."

A Generational Coup?

Salasya’s comments reflect a growing sentiment among the younger MPs that ODM needs a hard reset. Sifuna, known for his eloquence and combativeness, is seen as the ideological successor, while Winnie provides the dynastic legitimacy and organizational muscle.

• The Strategy: By sidelining the older loyalists who are currently negotiating with the government, this "Young Turk" alliance aims to return ODM to its roots as a pro-people, anti-establishment movement.
• The Obstacle: The entrenched interests within the party are powerful. Dislodging veterans like Oburu Oginga or Junet Mohamed will require more than just TikTok videos; it will need a ruthlessness that Winnie is only just beginning to show.

If Salasya’s advice is heeded, the Orange party could be heading for its most radical transformation yet. The revolution, it seems, will be televised—and tweeted.
