The family of Alphy Migasha demands the arrest of a KDF officer captured on CCTV brutally assaulting their son in Umoja One, injuries from which he later died.

The grieving family of Alphy Migasha is crying out for justice after their son was brutally beaten to death, allegedly by a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer. In a chilling incident captured on CCTV, the suspect, identified as Nicholas Ireri Njue, is seen raining blows on the defenseless victim at an entertainment joint in Umoja One, Nairobi.
The assault, which occurred on December 22, has left the community in shock and the family in agony. Despite the clear video evidence showing the officer forcefully pulling Alphy to the ground and assaulting him as witnesses watched in horror, the family claims the wheels of justice are turning painfully slow. Alphy succumbed to his injuries, which included fractured ribs and a broken leg, turning an assault case into a murder investigation.
Alphy’s mother, Stella Okinda, is a woman broken by loss and frustration. She recounted the heartbreaking moment she found her son at the scene. "I found my child bleeding from the eyes and with a swollen face. His clothes were stained with mud and blood. I fell on him, trying to shield him, but the officer continued assaulting him," she narrated through tears.
The CCTV footage paints a damning picture of impunity. The attacker, reportedly the owner of the joint, is seen assaulting Alphy and then calmly walking away, leaving him helpless on the ground. This callous disregard for human life has sparked outrage, with residents questioning if the suspect’s military status is shielding him from the law.
The family alleges that the suspect has issued threats, further compounding their trauma. The Buruburu police have confirmed they are investigating, but for Alphy’s kin, an investigation without an arrest is cold comfort. They are demanding the immediate intervention of DCI boss Mohamed Amin to ensure the case is not botched or buried.
This case is a litmus test for the rule of law in Kenya. Can a KDF officer be held accountable for killing a civilian in a bar brawl? The "Utumishi Kwa Wote" promise of the police is under trial here. Alphy Migasha is dead, but his blood cries out from the pavement of Umoja One.
For Stella Okinda, the only closure is seeing her son's killer in handcuffs. Until then, she remains a mother denied both her child and justice.
