NACADA and police dismantle a massive counterfeit alcohol factory in Kenol and launch a crackdown on illegal betting, declaring war on the "merchants of death" in Murang'a.

Security agencies in Murang'a have launched a ruthless "cleanup" operation, dismantling a sophisticated counterfeit alcohol syndicate and closing in on illegal betting dens that have enslaved the county's youth.
In a dawn raid at a residential fortress in Kenol, NACADA officers and police uncovered a factory pumping out toxic "killer brews." The haul included thousands of liters of industrial ethanol, fake KRA stamps, and food coloring used to disguise poison as premium gin.
"They are selling death in 250ml bottles," said NACADA CEO Anthony Omerikwa. "This was not a backyard brewing pot; this was an industrial-scale murder operation. We found food color meant for cakes being mixed with ethanol meant for engines."
Simultaneously, the county security committee has turned its sights on the proliferation of illegal betting machines. These unregulated "slots" have sprouted in market centers, draining the pockets of the poor and fueling a wave of petty crime.
Residents have welcomed the crackdown but remain skeptical. "We have seen raids before," said a local church leader. "The police come, take the bribes, and the machines are back the next week. We need sustained war, not just PR stunts."
With 85% of high-rise buildings in Nairobi also linked to illicit cash flows, the rot runs deep. But for the mothers of Murang'a, burying sons lost to alcoholism and gambling, this operation is a glimmer of hope in a dark valley.
