Elbeso village in shock after 34-year-old is butchered in a jealous rage; police laud the suspect for turning himself in to prevent retaliatory clan violence.

The dusty village of Elbeso in Marsabit County has been plunged into mourning following a gruesome murder that police suspect is a crime of passion. Badaqe Galgalo Abduba, 34, was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds, the victim of a deadly altercation that has shocked the tight-knit community.
According to Marsabit County Police Commander Leonard Kimaiyo, the incident occurred at the home of a woman believed to be at the center of the dispute. Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had visited the woman, only to be confronted by another man, 45-year-old Guyo Talbe, who also claimed a relationship with her.
"It was a confrontation that escalated too quickly," Commander Kimaiyo said. "The suspect allegedly drew a knife and inflicted fatal injuries on the deceased before fleeing the scene." The brutality of the attack has raised tensions in an area already prone to inter-clan volatility, though police have ruled out any political or ethnic motive.
The incident highlights a worrying trend of domestic violence in the region. Local NGOs warn that conflict resolution mechanisms are breaking down, with personal disputes increasingly ending in bloodshed. "We are seeing more young men resorting to the knife instead of the council of elders," said a local peace activist.
As the family of Badaqe Galgalo prepares to bury their son, the village of Elbeso is left to ponder the senseless loss of life. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow to face murder charges, but for the bereaved, justice will not fill the empty chair at the dinner table.
