The Kacheliba legislator cautions the former DP against welcoming "political tourists" into his Democracy for Citizens Party.

Kacheliba MP Titus Lotee has sent a stern warning to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua: Be careful who you let into the lifeboat. As Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) gathers momentum, Lotee cautions that opening the doors to "political tourists" could sink the vessel before it even leaves the harbor.
The warning comes amidst reports of high-profile defections and realignments as Gachagua attempts to consolidate his support base in Mt. Kenya and the Coast region. Speaking from the sidelines of a political retreat, Lotee argued that building a "United Opposition" requires ideology, not just a collection of grievances. "You cannot build a house with stones that have been rejected by other builders because they are cracked," he metaphorically stated.
Lotee’s concerns echo Gachagua’s own recent outbursts about "spies" within his camp. The fear is that President William Ruto’s UDA machinery is actively planting moles within the DCP to destabilize it from within. Lotee urged Gachagua to vet new entrants rigorously.
The Kacheliba legislator’s intervention highlights the fragility of Kenya’s opposition politics. It is often a marriage of convenience rather than conviction. By drawing a line in the sand, Lotee is challenging Gachagua to choose quality over quantity—a choice that will define the DCP’s future.
