Lenana School Principal William Kemei refutes social media claims of Form Fours bullying Grade 10 students, sparking a debate on safety in the new Senior School era.

Lenana School, one of Kenya’s most prestigious national institutions, is fighting off damaging allegations of a "reign of terror" targeting the newly admitted Grade 10 cohort.
The claims, which surfaced on social media through Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai, paint a disturbing picture of Form Four students allegedly turning the school into a torture chamber for the junior learners. However, Principal William Kemei has come out fighting, categorically dismissing the reports as baseless and asserting that the school’s internal mechanisms have found "zero evidence" of such brutality.
The digital storm began when a distressed parent allegedly reached out to Alai, claiming that Form Four candidates were "seriously beating" the Grade 10 newcomers. The accusations were specific and chilling: beatings with belts in dormitories, classrooms, dining halls, and even on the sports fields. The whistleblower claimed that the violence was so severe that some students had already initiated transfers just two weeks into the term.
"We have checked our CCTV footage, interviewed the students, and engaged the guidance and counseling department," Principal Kemei stated in a rebuttal. "There is no verified case of physical assault or bullying. We are running a disciplined institution."
The transition to Senior School was never going to be seamless. With Grade 10 students being the "pioneers" of the CBC at this level, they are navigating uncharted waters. If the allegations are true, it suggests a dangerous resentment or power struggle between the old system (8-4-4) and the new (CBC). If false, it represents a malicious attack on a school's reputation.
The Ministry of Education has yet to issue a formal statement, but sources indicate that quality assurance officers may be dispatched to ensure the safety of the minors. For now, the gates of Lenana School remain open, but the eyes of the nation are peering over the walls.
"We must protect our children," Alai wrote, echoing the sentiments of many parents. Whether this is an isolated panic or a systemic rot remains to be seen, but the spotlight is firmly fixed on the administration to guarantee safety.
