Nairobi, Kenya – July 14, 2025
Kenya’s long-distance running legacy shone brightly once again on the international stage as John Korir and Veronica Loleo delivered dominant performances to win the men’s and women’s titles at the 2025 Boilermaker 15K Road Race in Schenectady, New York.
Korir clocked an astonishing time of 42:44, finishing nearly a full minute ahead of his closest rival, while Loleo crossed the line in 49:37, securing her place atop the women’s podium. Their commanding victories reaffirm Kenya’s global stature in road racing and underscore the country’s enduring depth of athletic excellence.
Both athletes took control of their respective races early, setting a blistering pace that quickly thinned the competition. Korir’s relentless surge in the final kilometers left no doubt about the outcome, as he powered across the finish line in emphatic fashion. Loleo, displaying poise and tactical discipline, maintained a steady lead throughout the race and sealed her victory with confidence and composure.
“This was one of the strongest races I’ve ever run,” Korir told reporters after the race. “I felt good from the start, and I knew I had to push hard to maintain the lead. I’m proud to bring this win home to Kenya.”
Loleo echoed the sentiment, thanking her training team and supporters: “This is for my country and everyone who believes in Kenyan runners. We train hard, and we run with heart.”
The Boilermaker 15K, one of the most prestigious and competitive road races in the United States, drew elite athletes from across the globe. Yet it was the familiar green, red, and black of Kenya that topped the leaderboards once again. A large contingent of Kenyan diaspora supporters gathered along the race route, waving flags and cheering passionately, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
Kenya’s dominance in long-distance running has become an enduring narrative in global athletics, and Korir and Loleo’s triumphs serve as a fresh reminder of the nation’s prowess. As the 2025 athletics season heats up ahead of the World Road Running Championships, these victories signal strong form and renewed confidence for Team Kenya.
For the runners and their compatriots alike, it was more than just a win—it was a moment of national pride and a powerful statement that Kenya’s long-distance dynasty is far from over.
