Kenyans will bid farewell to former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga with a four-day state funeral program culminating in his burial on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in Bondo, Siaya County, honouring his wish for a swift interment.

Deputy President Kindiki, co-chairing the National Funeral Steering Committee with Senator Oburu Oginga, confirmed that the arrangements align with Odinga's personal wish to be interred within 72 hours of his passing.
A Kenyan delegation, led by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, departed for Mumbai, India, on Wednesday evening to facilitate the repatriation of Odinga's remains.
The body is expected to arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi at 8:30 AM on Thursday, October 16, 2025, where it will be received with full state honours by President William Ruto and members of the Odinga family. Following this, the cortege will proceed to Lee Funeral Home.
Later on Thursday, the public will have an opportunity to pay their final respects as Odinga's body lies in state at Parliament Buildings from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Security measures are in place, with roads around Parliament temporarily closed, and mourners are advised to use public transport.
