Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched a blistering attack on Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, accusing him of being a puppet of political brokers.

Speaking after a disrupted church service in Kirinyaga, Gachagua claimed that the police service has lost its independence. "The IG is not in charge," Gachagua thundered. "Orders are coming from civilian politicians who want to settle scores with teargas."

The Politicization of the Force

Gachagua alleges that a "special squad" has been formed specifically to disrupt his rallies in Mt Kenya. He challenged Kanja to resign if he cannot protect the constitution.
