DCI detectives in Meru arrested two suspects and seized bhang worth KES 630,000 in a dawn raid, recovering 22kg of narcotics and courier equipment.

A dramatic dawn raid in Meru Municipality has unearthed a narcotics den and led to the arrest of two young traffickers. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) seized 22 kilograms of bhang valued at KES 630,000, thwarting a desperate attempt by one suspect to flush the evidence down a toilet.
The operation in Mwiteria sub-location targeted a rental house that had been flagged by intelligence as a distribution hub. [...](asc_slot://start-slot-3)The "So What?" is alarming: the suspects, aged just 21 and 23, represent a new generation of traffickers embedding themselves in residential estates, turning safe neighborhoods into drug depots.
Police identified the suspects as Daniel Mutuma, 23, and Duncan Murithi, 21. When officers stormed the premises, Murithi reportedly bolted for the bathroom, frantically attempting to dispose of the rolls. He was apprehended before he could destroy the haul.
"We are dismantling these networks house by house," stated the Imenti North Sub-County Police Commander. The suspects are currently being held at Meru Police Station pending arraignment.
This bust is a small victory in a larger war. With drugs worth over half a million shillings found in a single rental unit, residents are left wondering how many other "safe houses" remain undetected in their midst.
