Senator Samson Cherargei questions Winnie Odinga's performance at EALA, dismissing her as a beneficiary of "name privilege" and demanding an audit of her legislative contributions.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has launched a blistering attack on Winnie Odinga, questioning her value at the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) and dismissing her as a beneficiary of nepotism.
In a fresh escalation of the UDA-ODM cold war, the vocal Senator claimed that Kenya's representation at the regional parliament in Arusha is being "held hostage" by individuals who rode to power on the backs of their famous surnames rather than merit or diplomatic acumen.
Speaking to the press at Parliament Buildings, Cherargei did not mince his words. He challenged Winnie Odinga to table a single report, bill, or motion she has championed since her election to EALA. The Senator argued that while other representatives are fighting for trade barriers to be lifted for Kenyan milk and eggs, Winnie has been "missing in action" on the substantive issues.
"We cannot have representatives whose only qualification is being the daughter of Baba," Cherargei fired. "Respect for Raila Odinga won her the vote, yes. But respect for Raila will not lower tariffs for our farmers. We need to audit her performance scorecard. It is blank!"
The timing of the attack is significant. With the 2027 political realignments already taking shape, UDA hardliners like Cherargei are keen to dismantle the "Odinga mystique" that still holds sway in Nyanza and beyond. By attacking Winnie, they aim to portray the opposition leadership as self-serving elitists.
Winnie, known for her sharp tongue on social media, has yet to respond officially. But if history is any guide, the clapback from the "Lastborn of the Struggle" will likely be as stinging as the accusation.
