Saboti MP Caleb Amisi claims Raila Odinga opposed the deal with Ruto, accusing current ODM leaders of betrayal for joining the government.

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has dropped a political bombshell, claiming that the late ODM leader Raila Odinga was vehemently opposed to the "broad-based government" deal that currently binds the opposition to President William Ruto’s administration. In a revelation that challenges the current ODM leadership's narrative, Amisi insists the handshake was never part of Baba’s plan.
Amisi, a vocal "Young Turk" within the party, alleges that Raila’s last directive to him was to "continue hitting the government." According to the MP, Raila viewed the current regime as having deviated from the democratic ideals he spent a lifetime fighting for. "Baba told me to my face: 'This is not what we believe in'," Amisi recounted.
The MP didn’t mince his words, labeling those who rushed to join the cabinet as "foodious" people driven by stomach infrastructure rather than principle. He claims that opportunists took advantage of Raila’s absence and subsequent passing to cut deals with State House, effectively selling the party’s opposition mandate for a few flags and limousines.
Amisi’s claims cast a shadow over the legitimacy of the broad-based government. If true, it means the current arrangement is built on a lie. As ODM approaches its internal elections, the question of "What would Baba do?" is set to become the weapon of choice for rebels looking to reclaim the party from the grip of the state.
