Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced that its next-generation Amazon SageMaker AI/ML platform is now available in its AWS Europe (Stockholm) region, providing European developers with access to SageMaker’s unified studio
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the regional expansion of its next-generation Amazon SageMaker platform, now available in the AWS Europe (Stockholm) region. This rollout brings the full capabilities of the enhanced SageMaker Gen2 platform to European developers, researchers, and enterprises seeking powerful machine learning tools with regional data residency compliance and lower latency.
At the core of SageMaker Gen2 is a unified development environment, known as SageMaker Studio, which consolidates data engineering, model building, and deployment workflows into a single visual interface. The update also introduces SageMaker Lakehouse, a major leap forward in enabling customers to query, access, and govern structured and unstructured data from a unified, scalable architecture.
With native lakehouse integration, SageMaker now supports real-time analytics and seamless data preparation, streamlining the often time-consuming process of managing data pipelines for machine learning and AI projects.
Alongside core ML development tools, AWS is also bringing SageMaker Canvas to Stockholm—a no-code interfacethat allows business analysts and non-technical users to build, train, and deploy machine learning models without writing a single line of code.
In addition, SageMaker Gen2 includes built-in support for generative AI, positioning it as a comprehensive platform for enterprises exploring applications such as content generation, synthetic data creation, automated insights, and customer interaction tools powered by large language models.
The expansion into the Stockholm region addresses growing demand from European companies for AI tools that adhere to GDPR and data sovereignty requirements. By running workloads locally, organizations can reduce legal complexity while benefiting from AWS’s full security, scalability, and compliance stack.
With this regional availability, AWS aims to accelerate AI and machine learning adoption across industries such as healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and public services in Northern and Central Europe. The launch comes as part of AWS’s broader strategy to democratize access to advanced AI infrastructure globally.
This latest SageMaker update enhances AWS’s position in the competitive cloud ML landscape, which includes platforms like Google Cloud Vertex AI, Microsoft Azure Machine Learning, and Databricks MLflow. With end-to-end tooling, native AI integration, and strict compliance support, AWS continues to differentiate SageMaker as a full-lifecycle ML platform optimized for both expert developers and citizen data scientists.
