Eight auctioneering companies announced plans to sell unclaimed vehicles, motorcycles and televisions in Nairobi, Migori and coastal counties over the next 30 days, with brands ranging from Toyota and Nissan cars to TVS and Bajaj motorbikes.
Nairobi, Migori, and Coastal Regions – A wave of auction notices has been issued by eight firms across Nairobi, Migori, and coastal counties, signaling the upcoming sale of unclaimed motor vehicles, motorcycles, and household items—all due to start within the next 30 days. These disposals, published in a gazette notice dated August 8, are aimed at decongesting police yards and recouping storage costs.
Devine Solution: Planning to sell two televisions currently stored in its premises.
Sofina Auctioneers: Will auction two Mitsubishi vehicles at Uriri Police Station; over 20 vehicles—including Toyota Mark X, Nissan X-Trail, Mazda, Toyota Probox, Peugeot—in Sotik; various motorcycles in Kehancha; and Nissan Sunny and Mazda vehicles in Mbita.
Windsor House Auctioneers: Listed 18 motorcycles, “15 boxes,” and device items such as “Haujin” at Watamu Police Station, plus seven more motorcycles (Jinchen, Skygo, Yamaha) at Tawa Police Station.
Petrifriend: Will auction more than 20 motorcycles and vehicles (brands including Kingbird, Bajaj, Boxer; vehicles like Mazda, Toyota Probox, Toyota Saloon, Toyota Wish, Isuzu), along with three bicycles, at Mwatate Police Station within 14 days.
Blackbird Storage & Auction Yard Ltd.: Set to sell 15 vehicles, including models like Nissan, Iveco Euro Cargo, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Honda Airwave, Toyota ACE, Hyundai, Nissan Caravan, BMW, Nissan Serena, Nissan Vanette, DAF CF, FAW Fighter, Mitsubishi FH, and Daihatsu Mira. These will be sold via public auction or private treaty if unclaimed.
Jakisumu Auto Garage: Will auction a Mitsubishi L200 via public auction, tender, or private treaty.
A Toyota Kluger lying uncollected at Janjo Yard, Nairobi, is also slated for disposal under similar terms.
Owners are being urged to claim their goods, present proof of ownership, and settle all fees—including storage and legal costs—prior to the sale dates. Those who fail to do so risk losing their property, although any proceeds beyond owed costs will be returned to rightful owners upon presenting valid documentation.
Police yards across counties remain overburdened, and these regulated auctions provide a lawful mechanism to free up space while enforcing accountability.
The wide spectrum of items—from motorcycles at coastal stations to high-value vehicles in Nairobi—highlights the importance of vigilance among owners.
