PanAfrican Energy Tanzania (PAET), a prominent subsidiary of Orca Energy Group, is the premier independent natural gas exploration and production company in Tanzania. Operating the massive Songo Songo gas field, PAET holds the prestigious title of successfully launching the very first gas-to-power project in Sub-Saharan Africa, fundamentally altering Tanzania’s energy trajectory. The company operates highly advanced onshore and offshore gas wells at Songo Songo Island in the Indian Ocean. The extracted gas is processed at a dedicated facility before being transported to Dar es Salaam. PAET’s gas directly fuels the Ubungo power complex, heavily stabilizing the national electricity grid and protecting the country from the volatile price shocks of imported diesel fuel. In addition to power generation, PAET has heavily pioneered the direct supply of natural gas to over 50 major industrial manufacturing plants in Dar es Salaam. This industrial gas ring-main system provides factories with a cheaper, cleaner, and more efficient energy source. PAET is deeply committed to local capacity building, employing a workforce that is 99% Tanzanian and funding major health and education initiatives on Songo Songo Island.
