Rosemary Odinga (born 13 August 1977) is a Kenyan entrepreneur and a pioneer of commercial snail farming. She founded and directs Shelltops Ltd, supplying escargot to high-end hotels and retailers, a venture she began in 2007 after researching breeding of giant African land snails and setting up greenhouses near Kiserian. Profiles and business reports describe Shelltops’ scale-up from a small starter colony to thousands of snails, positioning her as one of Kenya’s best-known alternative-agriculture advocates. She has also worked in enterprise and youth development, and holds a BA in Sociology from Howard University and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Dallas. In 2017 she suspended a planned bid for the Kibra parliamentary seat after a brain tumour and aneurysm caused vision loss. Following multi-country treatment, she credited a regimen at Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital in Kerala with helping her regain sight by 2019–2022, a recovery covered by Kenyan and Indian media. Since then she has focused on business, agribusiness advocacy, and community work while maintaining a lower political profile.
